According to legend, Lord Shiva appeared here to rescue his devotee Supriya from the demon Daruka, promising to remain at this sacred site as the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga to protect all who seek him with faith.
The temple is also renowned for its magnificent 25-metre-tall statue of Lord Shiva, which welcomes visitors from afar.
